#worstcallever: What Darrell Bevell MIGHT Have Been Thinking
If the pass is incomplete, Seattle has 2 more cracks at it with Marshawn and the one timeout, and they're guaranteed all 4 downs; Lynch runs on 2nd down and fails to score, it almost forces a timeout and 3rd down pass.
But Bevell didn't count on two possibilities: 1] that Lockette might make the catch short of the goal line and get tackled, a la Kevin Dyson by Mike Jones in SB 34, forcing the use of the timeout anyway; 2] what actually happened: Wilson tried to lead Lockette into the end zone before he actually got there and instead threw the ball straight to Malcolm Butler.
